DEAL WITH MOHAWKS DELAYED.(MAIN)

As Gov. George Pataki and the St. Regis Mohawk tribal government reschedule a signing ceremony on a landmark $100 million land claim and gaming compact agreement, the administration is working on a similar pact with the Oneidas that could lead to the development of casinos in the Catskills.

The Mohawk announcement was postponed after two of the three parties to the land claim lawsuit against the state cried foul and urged the elected chiefs to cancel a signing ceremony that Pataki hastily scheduled for Wednesday.

The Mohawk deal is just one of two major tribal negotiations by the Pataki administration. The Oneida deal could have bigger consequences because …
