A Good Night Sleep Gets Off the Ground, Launches New Website.(Website overview)

A Good Night Sleep (AGNS) has gotten off the ground with several successful projects and has now turned its sights towards beefing up its internet presence with the launch of a new, interactive website, http://www.AGNSFoundation.org. Here, one will find updates on the foundation's latest projects, learn more about their vision and goals, and get more information on how to donate and/or get involved in their mission to provide beds and bedding to those who need it the most.

A nonprofit organization, AGNS' primary goal is to help ensure that a basic, often ignored need of people transitioning from homelessnessathat of a good night's sleepais met. By partnering with organizations who work with the homeless, such as the Los Angeles Downtown Women's Center (LADWC), as well as with corporate partners and individuals, the foundation aims to raise awareness about this need and to provide the essential solutionamattress donations (Los Angeles and throughout the country). Corporate donations to nonprofits usually come in cash, but companies, especially mattress manufacturers, retailers, and those in the lodging and hospitality industry, are urged to consider supplying beds and bedding essentials as well.

"In today's society, having a bed is something that's taken for granted," says Jennifer Kenning, the founder and chairman of the board for AGNS. "But many people in our communities do not enjoy the privilege of sleeping in a bed every night nor do they enjoy the benefits that having had a good night's sleep brings. At AGNS, we strongly believe that every human being, no matter the circumstance, deserves to have that good night's sleep."

AGNS' first project was with the LADWC, wherein more than $60,000 was raised in eight weeks and 63 full-size and 16 twin-size bed sets were delivered and set up by volunteers in time for the opening of the center's new building. "This was our proof of concept project," says Josh Helland, AGNS' co-founder and executive director, "and its success has given us a lot of hope that, as a community, we can indeed provide a solution for a problem that too many people don't even know exist."
